The Family Continues
After Maria's death in Berlin in 1720, her daughter Christine and her son Christfried, as well as another one of her daughters, decided to continue the family's work in astronomy. Christfried had become the director of the Berlin Observatory of the Royal Academy of Sciences in 1716. Her two daughters worked as Christfried's assistants. Christfried was a hard working, serious man who never got married. He lived with his sisters for nearly twenty years, until he died of a heart attack.
